After breakfast in Thimphu, begin your drive towards the high mountain pass of Dochula (3,100m) — a serene stop offering panoramic views of the Himalayan range on clear mornings. Here, 108 chortens (stupas) stand as symbols of peace and unity, shimmering under the mountain light. Take a moment to stroll through the site, breathe in the cool alpine air, and perhaps enjoy a warm cup of tea at the Dochula café.

Descending into the Punakha valley, you’ll stop in Lobesa to stretch your legs on a gentle countryside hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley.
